The Eleventh Annual Yellowknife International Film Festival will take place October 25 to 29th, with screenings at the Capitol Theatre, and a series of professional development and networking opportunities. YKIFF is hosted by WAMP (Western Arctic Moving Pictures), a non-profit organization in Yellowknife with a mandate to support, showcase, produce, and promote film, video, and digital media throughout the Northwest Territories. This year’s YKIFF event will include feature films from around the circumpolar world, including: - My Father From Sirius (Director Einari Paakkanen in attendance) - Hello Destroyer (Director Haydn Wazelle in attendance) - Journeys to Adaka (Director Fritz Mueller in attendance) - I Am Not Your Negro - Long Time Running - Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked The World - When They Awake! - The Other Side of Hope Northern productions are being well represented at this year’s festival. Local and NWT directors, producers, and actors will be in attendance to showcase their work, and to discuss the burgeoning NWT film industry. - Jerri Thrasher (Inuvik) – The Last Walk - Jen Walden (Yellowknife) – Dal Segno - Dez Loreen (Inuvik) – The Mad Trapper - Mitch Wiles (Yellowknife) – Elevator Friends - Caroline Cox (Yellowknife) – Wild Kitchen - Chris McNutt (Whitehorse) – NorthwesTel Filmmakers and film enthusiasts are invited to artists talks; question-and-answer periods with filmmakers, funders, and actors; and workshops with industry professionals who can help locals fine-tune their craft and become competitive within the industry.
