Igniting the power of the North
We are a telecommunications company in and of Canada’s North. We are passionate about our home, and passionate about the people and communities within it. It is our mission to connect the North with services and products that connect Northerners to each other, to business and to the rest of the world.
Erasing the distance between us
Northwestel operates in some of Canada’s most remote places. Of our 96 communities, almost half can only be reached by air. We provide a complete range of voice, video and data solutions to residential and business customers in our operating area that covers Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, Yukon, Northern BC and High Level, Alberta.
It is the largest operating area of any telecommunications company in the western hemisphere, an area that covers almost 33% of Canada, but is home to only 0.3% of Canada’s people. But to us, distance is all relative. As Northerners, we share a special bond that makes us feel like we are never truly apart. And at Northwestel, we promise to build that bond no matter the obstacles.
We all share the need for connection—to friends, family, colleagues or clients. Northwestel was born out of this need. Since 1979, we have laid the groundwork for northern connections.
