An update and explanation of programs available for the eligible worker, which include:
- CERB - Canada Emergency Relief Benefit - A taxable benefit of $2,000 for each 4-week period, for up to 16 weeks, to an eligible worker who has to stop working for reasons related to COVID-19.
An update and explanation of programs available for eligible employers, which include:
- Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) - The CEWS subsidies 75% of the first $58,700 wages paid between March 15 to June 2, 2020 to each worker.
- Temporary Wage Subsidy - This subsidy is worth 10% of remuneration paid from March 18, 2020 to June 19, 2020 to a maximum of $1,350 for each eligible employee and to a maximum of $25,000 per eligible employer.
- Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) - It's a $40,000 initial revolving line of credit to help eligible businesses pay for operating expenses, payroll and other non-deferrable expenses.
- BDIC Working Capital Loan - 1.75% interest loan up to $25,000 for business owners living in the Northwest Territories.

Andy has been with Crowe MacKay LLP since 1998 and prior to that was a partner at a different accounting firm.
Andy specializes in the tax areas and has over 33 years of experience. Andy has done tax work for many large corporate groups and individuals, and provides ongoing tax advice as required. Andy has provided his expertise to many business dealings in the NWT.
Andy has written tax articles for NewsNorth a territorial newspaper. He has also written for Moneysense, Canadian Moneysavers, and the National Post. Andy was also a tax lecturer for the Certified General Accountants Association of the NWT. He has also presented tax seminars for the CGA, CA and CMA associations. He is a volunteer in many different areas, including teaching in China for three months.
He is currently serving on the Business Development & Investment Corporation, NWT. He has served on different boards and has also served on a variety of boards such as the Crime Stoppers International, NWT chapter, Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce, Yellowknife Multisport Club, United Way, Yellowknife Association and the CGA Association of the NWT/NU.
